There is a very large selection of backgrounds in this game and these are not done in the exact same way as the characters. The backgrounds tend to be a little duller, but I think this is by design so that the characters really do pop. I have to imagine that someone who just picks this up on a whim is going to be very confused!

That is part of what I like about Dragon Ball Z and this game like its predecessors captures that perfectly. The battles are completely over the top and while I would say the core gameplay has not changed a great deal.
